2011 Toronto Blue Jays Top 20 Prospects
12/19/2011
An incredible system. The depth here is fantastic, and there’s plenty of blue-chip, and close to blue-chip talent. Toronto’s investment in lots of pitching should provide plenty reward down the road, with a nice mix of high-upside prep arms and polished college products. There’s also plenty of up-the-middle talent here as well among the position players, with a number of catching and center field prospects. A more in-depth write-up will be on the way, along with some features on the big Top-100 type talents in the Toronto system.

Are you planning to add some narrative on each player? I look forward to the brief narratives.
Definitely. Got a little off schedule, but will be going back to write up my thoughts on the Top 20 very soon. The system is far too good just to have a simple ranking.
[...] Best Value Pick: RHP Graham Godfrey (31st Round) gets the honor, but not for what he did while with the Blue Jays. After a nondescript first season at High-A Lansing, Godfrey was traded along with Kristian Bell to the A’s for Marco Scutaro on November 18, 2007. Godfrey is currently on the A’s 40-man roster, and probably will compete for the 5th spot in the A’s rotation out of spring training this year. As the piece that came back, Scutaro was on the Blue Jays for two seasons, putting up a .275/.362/.384 line before leaving as a free agent to the Red Sox after the 2009 season. The Jays got two draft picks for him, RHP Aaron Sanchez (1st round supplemental pick) and LHP Justin Nicolino (2nd Round). A pretty decent haul, as we rank Nicolino as the Jays’ #3 prospect currently, and Sanchez as their #12 prospect. [...]
